N-O-T is a state-of-the-art program specifically designed for teens ages 14-18 years of age that want to stop smoking. N-O-T aims to help teens stop smoking or reduce the number of cigarettes they smoke.

N-O-T is the ALA's completely voluntary program based around a total-health approach. It is designed to help high school-aged students not only stop smoking or reduce the number of cigarettes smoked, but also increase healthy lifestyle behaviors and improve life management skills. N-O-T has been rigorously tested over the past ten years and has been shown to have an overall quit rate of 21%, along with 75% reporting at least a reduction of cigarettes smoked. The program consists of one session per week over a 10 week period. Best of all, it is currently be offered free of charge for all participants.

N-O-T can be implemented by teachers, counselors, nurses, health educators, or community leaders, when trained by the American Lung Association, in schools and community settings. Facilitator trainings will be held throughout the year and are also being offered free of charge.

The N-O-T program is recognized by several federal agencies as a model program:

Don't let tobacco ruin your life. We can help you quit. For more information on when classes start, how to become a N-O-T Facilitator, or more about the program itself, please call our Youth Cessation Program Coordinator, Nicole Roberts by phone: (702)-431-7236 or email: nroberts@lungnevada.org
